Dear ....................................,
Student answer (Band 6.5)
Dear Parth,
I hope you are doing well! I just received yopur letter and I am glad to hear that you are seeking for my advice. I'm writing this letter to suggest you that you should enrol yourself into tennis coaching.
Firstly, since the childhood you are excellent sports person. I know you are much interested in outdoor sports like tennis, soccer, etc. I would recommend you to enrol into tennis because you love to play that game and I also fufill your hobby.
Moreover, you can enrol yourself into nearest cowan sports acedamy. The teaching staff is very nice and well trained. Also they teach you game in a reasonable rate. They have different play grounds and they coach only 4 person at a time so they can teach you very good. You can also participate in their local tennis academy tournament.
Lastly, Last week I enrolled myself over there into tennis and swimming. So I would suggest you can join as well, we will learn that sports together.
Hope you see you soon!
Yours lovingly,
Jay

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0
You address all three requirements: tennis is recommended, Cowan Sports Academy is suggested as a place to learn, and you invite your friend to join you. The reasons are relevant, including your friend’s interest in outdoor sports and the academy’s small coaching groups. The email also has an appropriate friendly opening and closing. Some support is quite general, however: “the teaching staff is very nice and well trained” and “they teach you game in a reasonable rate” would be more persuasive with a specific detail about lessons or costs. The final invitation is clear, but could explain more directly how learning together would benefit you both.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.0
The message has a clear progression: it introduces the advice, explains why tennis suits your friend, gives information about where to learn, and ends with an invitation. Paragraphing supports this sequence, and signposts such as “Firstly,” “Moreover,” and “Lastly” make the stages easy to follow. The organisation is generally effective, though the transitions sometimes feel formulaic, and “Lastly, Last week” repeats the same sequencing idea. The final paragraph also shifts from your own enrolment to the invitation rather abruptly. Use fewer mechanical markers and connect the ideas more naturally—for example, explain that because you have already enrolled, your friend could join you for lessons.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
Your vocabulary is sufficient to communicate the recommendation and practical details, with relevant terms such as “coaching,” “teaching staff,” “play grounds,” and “tournament.” The friendly tone is appropriate for an email to a friend. However, noticeable spelling, word-form, and collocation errors reduce precision: “yopur,” “fufill,” and “acedamy” are misspelled, while “seeking for my advice,” “enrol into,” and “reasonable rate” are not natural combinations. Some wording is also vague, such as “teach you very good.” Aim for accurate, natural phrases such as “ask for my advice,” “sign up for tennis lessons,” and “at an affordable price.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You use a mix of simple and longer sentence forms, and most of the message remains understandable. For example, “I know you are much interested in outdoor sports like tennis, soccer, etc.” attempts to give a reason, while “The teaching staff is very nice and well trained” is a clear simple sentence. However, errors occur often in sentence construction and grammatical patterns: “I would recommend you to enrol” needs a different verb pattern, and “since the childhood you are excellent sports person” has problems with articles and tense. “So I would suggest you can join” also combines structures awkwardly. Review verb patterns, articles, and tense consistency, and check punctuation around lists and sentence openings. More accurate complex sentences would improve control.
