Student answer (Band 6.0)

Dear Thomas,

I hope you're doing well. I just received your email, asking for my suggestion about learning new sport in our town.

Since i've been participating in multiple sporting activities from such a long period of time , i can help you in making your decision on which sport can benefit you especially at the age of 45. After evaluating almost all the aspect of your current physical condition, which is at intermediate level, my recommendation is golf because it requires less stamina than other games and it's highly competitive that matches your characteristics,.

I think ola golf club can be a suitable option for you if you're really keen to learn golf, as it provides one to one training sessions for beginners, making it easier to cultivate required skills to play this sport efficiently.

I also wanted to try my hands in playing golf from past to months and now after getting your email , i think we should start training together, in this way we can hangout that makes this training even better.

Greetings,

Harmanpreet singh

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

You address all three requested points: you recommend golf, identify Ola Golf Club and its one-to-one beginner sessions as a way to learn, and invite Thomas to train with you. The reasons that golf suits him—its lower stamina demands and competitive nature—also make the recommendation relevant. This is a solid response, but some ideas are not fully developed: for example, you do not explain how he could contact or enrol at the club, and the reference to his physical condition being “at intermediate level” is unclear. To strengthen the advice, add a practical detail about lessons and explain more specifically why golf would suit his interests or circumstances.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The email has a clear overall sequence: you introduce the request, recommend a sport, explain where to learn it, and finish by suggesting you go together. Paragraph breaks help distinguish these points, and phrases such as “I think” and “I also wanted” guide the reader through your message. Some connections are less smooth, however. The long sentence beginning “Since i've been participating…” contains several ideas at once, while “in this way we can hangout that makes this training even better” does not clearly show how the ideas relate. Use shorter sentences and clearer links, and make sure each paragraph develops one main point. The email format is appropriate, though a conventional sign-off would make the ending more natural.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

You use a suitable range of vocabulary for giving advice, including “recommendation,” “one to one training sessions,” “beginners,” and “cultivate required skills.” These choices communicate the main ideas, and the tone is generally friendly. Some less common expressions are not used naturally: “participating in multiple sporting activities from such a long period of time,” “try my hands in playing golf,” and “from past to months” are awkward or unclear. “Highly competitive that matches your characteristics” also needs a more natural collocation. Aim for precise, idiomatic phrases such as “I’ve been involved in several sports for a long time” and “I’ve wanted to try golf for the past few months.” Check spelling and capitalization, including “I’ve” and the club’s name.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentences, including a reason clause beginning “Since” and a sentence explaining the club’s training sessions. The message remains understandable, but some grammatical errors occur in articles, verb forms, and sentence construction. For example, write “learning a new sport” rather than “learning new sport,” and “I’ve been participating” rather than “i've been participating.” The phrase “I also wanted to try my hands in playing golf from past to months” has an unclear tense and time expression; “I’ve wanted to try golf for the past few months” is clearer. Punctuation also needs attention: the sentence about golf ends with an unnecessary comma before the full stop. More accurate sentence patterns would help you show your range consistently.
