Student answer (Band 6.0)

Dear Anmol,

I hope you are doing well. I am very glad to hear that you want you learn a new sport in my town. So, here are some of my points which I want to clear with you and I feel extremeally happy from this news.

To start with, you can start Badminton sport because it is not too hard to learn. In addition to it, you can join Badminton academy so, it will easy for your to learn new sport from proper training in less time. Furthermore, this academy is nearly the university so you do not feel tired and easily can give time to sport.

Secondly, from a long time I was also thinking to join some outdoor activities to keep me healthy and physical strong so I want to tell you that we both will do it together. In addition to it, we will follow strict diet rules and proper exercise which will help us to keep focused on game.

Hope to see you soon,

Thank you

yours faithfully

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

You address all three points: badminton is recommended, an academy is suggested as a way to learn, and you invite your friend to take it up together. The advice is relevant and the reason that badminton is “not too hard to learn” gives the recommendation some support. The academy’s location near the university is also a useful practical detail. This meets the task well, with some evidence of the fuller development expected at the next level. However, the learning advice remains brief: you could explain how to contact the academy, arrange beginner lessons, or practise between sessions. The shared plan is also less developed, as the diet and exercise details do not explain how you would learn badminton together.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The email has a clear overall arrangement: an opening, a recommendation and learning advice, a paragraph about doing the activity together, and a closing. Sequencing phrases such as “To start with” and “Secondly” help readers follow the main points. However, cohesion is sometimes mechanical because several sentences begin with “In addition to it,” and the links between ideas are not always smooth. For example, the move from joining an academy to its location near the university could be connected more naturally. The closing also combines “Hope to see you soon,” “Thank you,” and “yours faithfully,” which makes the ending feel less consistent for a friendly email. More varied linking and clearer paragraph focus would improve progression.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use enough vocabulary to communicate the main advice, including “academy,” “proper training,” “outdoor activities,” and “focused on game.” These choices show an attempt to go beyond very basic wording. However, several expressions are inaccurate or unnatural, which limits precision: “extremeally happy from this news,” “nearly the university,” and “physical strong” do not express the intended meanings naturally. “Badminton sport” is also unnecessarily repetitive, and “strict diet rules” sounds overly rigid in this context. Spelling errors such as “extremeally” are noticeable. Aim to learn common collocations and check word forms so your vocabulary sounds more natural while remaining clear.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt a mix of simple and longer sentences, including a reason clause in “because it is not too hard to learn” and a relative clause in “which will help us to keep focused.” The main message is generally understandable, but some grammatical errors affect accuracy. For example, “you want you learn” needs an infinitive construction (“you want to learn”), and “it will easy” is missing “be.” In “easily can give time to sport,” the word order and article use need attention. The sentence beginning “from a long time I was also thinking” also has an unsuitable tense and preposition. Practise accurate verb patterns, articles, and sentence word order while continuing to use longer structures.
