How sugar is produced from sugar cane
Student answer (Band 5.5)
The diagram illustrates process of making sugar. Which is manufactured from sugar cane.
Overall, it is clear that the process consist in seven different stages. Starting with Growing sugar can and ending by drying and coling sugar.
In the initial stage, allow sugar canes until enough maturing approximately 12-18 months. Then the mature sugar canes hervested to transport in factory. then the hervested sugar canes are crushed for making juice. In the fourth stage, the producing juice Purifying by a Limestone filter for clearing waste from the liquide.
In the next stage, the filtering juice moved to a Evaporator. In this stage, the juice converted to a syrup through heating with specific temperature. Subsequntly, It is the most comples stage that, the converting syrup go into Centrifuge for separateing sugar crystals from syrup. Finally, the clear sugar transported into a container for drying and cooli

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You identify the process as having seven stages and give a relevant overview from growing the cane to drying the sugar. Several key steps are also included, such as crushing, filtering, evaporation and centrifuging. However, some details are unclear or not fully supported by the diagram: for example, “transport in factory” is not shown, and “clear sugar” is not the stated output after centrifuging; the final stage is drying and cooling. The harvesting methods (mechanical and manual) are omitted, and the explanation of the limestone filter is vague. The response is also five words below the required minimum. Add the missing harvesting detail and describe the separation and final output more precisely.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a generally sensible structure: an introduction and overview are followed by stages in process order, with paragraph breaks separating the main sections. Sequencing expressions such as “In the initial stage,” “In the next stage,” and “Finally” help the reader follow the sequence. However, progression is sometimes weakened by abrupt or unclear links, including the sentence fragment “Which is manufactured from sugar cane” and the transition “then” after a full stop. Some references, such as “the filtering juice,” are difficult to interpret. Use complete sentences and consistent linking, and group the stages more deliberately—for example, harvesting and crushing together, followed by the later processing stages.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use relevant process vocabulary, including “Limestone filter,” “Evaporator,” “Centrifuge,” “syrup,” and “sugar crystals,” which helps convey the technical stages. There is also some attempt at more precise description, such as “maturing” and “converting.” However, spelling and word-choice errors are noticeable and sometimes make the meaning less clear: “hervested,” “coling,” and “comples” are examples, while “clear sugar” is not an accurate description of the product. Some combinations are unnatural, such as “allow sugar canes until enough maturing” and “transport in factory.” Learn process collocations such as “the cane is harvested,” “the juice is heated,” and “crystals are separated from the syrup,” and check spelling carefully.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more complex forms, including a passive construction in “the mature sugar canes hervested” and a purpose clause in “for making juice.” However, control is inconsistent, and several sentence structures are faulty. The opening “Which is manufactured from sugar cane” is a fragment, while “the process consist in seven different stages” has errors in agreement and preposition. Passive forms also need attention: write “the juice is purified” and “the syrup is separated,” rather than “the producing juice Purifying” and “the converting syrup go.” Articles and verb forms are also problematic in “to a Evaporator” and “the juice converted.” Practise accurate passive sentences and ensure each sentence has a clear subject and finite verb.
