Student answer (Band 5.5)

This process illustrates the suger making method for read to use sugar from sugar cane.

Overall, their are total 7 different step to manufactueing sugar by using sugar canes. The proess will start with growing sugar canes and end by drying and cooling of a sugar.

To start with, the first step of the proess is to grow sugar cane for 12 to 18 months and then harvesting of the canes. After the harvesting all sugar canes are go for crushing and canes convert into juice. Then the process contiune by purifying juice and limestore filter. The 5th setp is evaporator, where the sugar juice beocmes syrup.

However, the next step is to centrifuge, which means sugar are separates in sugar crysais form syrup and the last and final step is to drying and cooling of a sugar, after that the sugar is ready for use.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You identify the process as having seven stages and give a clear overall direction, from growing cane to drying and cooling. The stated growing period of 12 to 18 months and the main transformations into juice and then syrup are accurate. However, several important details are omitted or unclear: harvesting can be done mechanically or by hand, and the juice is purified through a limestone filter. The final separation is also described imprecisely: the centrifuge separates sugar crystals from syrup, rather than sugar being separated “in sugar crystals form syrup.” The response is slightly below the required 150 words. To strengthen coverage, add these details and explain the stages more precisely, while keeping the overview focused on the start, end, and key transformations.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a sensible overall structure: an introduction and overview are followed by the stages in sequence, with the final stages placed in a separate paragraph. Sequencing phrases such as “To start with,” “Then,” and “the next step” help the reader follow the process. However, some links are mechanical or unclear, particularly “Then the process continue by purifying juice and limestone filter,” where the relationship between purification and the filter is not expressed clearly. The opening overview also repeats the start and end information from the introduction. Use more precise links between stages and make each sentence show clearly what enters, what happens, and what comes out.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use relevant process vocabulary, including “harvesting,” “crushing,” “purifying,” “evaporator,” and “centrifuge,” which helps convey the sequence. Some terms are used imprecisely or awkwardly, however: “sugar making method for read to use sugar” is unclear, and “sugar are separates in sugar crysais form syrup” does not accurately express the separation. There are also noticeable spelling errors, including “suger,” “limestore,” and “proess,” which reduce the accuracy of the description. Aim for precise process collocations and check spelling carefully. For example, describe juice as being “filtered through limestone” and sugar crystals as being “separated from the syrup.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple sentences and longer clauses, and the sequence is generally understandable. However, errors in sentence structure, verb forms, and agreement occur often enough to make some parts difficult to read. Examples include “their are total 7 different step,” “all sugar canes are go for crushing,” and “the sugar juice beocmes syrup.” The final sentence also joins several stages with commas rather than clearly separating the ideas. Practise accurate passive forms for process descriptions, such as “the canes are crushed” and “the juice is heated,” and check singular/plural agreement and articles. More reliable control of these basic patterns would make the process much clearer.
