The diagram below shows the manufacturing process for making sugar from sugar cane.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

Student answer (Band 6.5)

The given image illustrates the manufacturing process for producing sugar from sugarcane.

Overall, the process contains seven stages where, it begins from growing sugar canes and conclude with drying and cooling. The sugarcane passes through harvesting, crushing, purifying, evaporating, and centrifugation.

The process begins from growing sugarcanes in a farm, and it take 12-18 months to produce the good quality of sugarcanes. Then, farmers harvest them using a machine or their hands using a tool. In Following stage, using another machine to take out the juice from the fresh sugarcanes.

Moreover, purifying this juice by using limestone filter. Process continues with the Evaporator were, the juice converts into syrup using the help of heat. In the second last stage, centrifugation is used to separates sugar crystals from the syrup. In the final stage, we dry and cool the sugar in the container and organic sugar is prepared. Hence, the process continuous.
