The diagram below shows the manufacturing process for making sugar from sugar cane.

Overall, there are many steps which take place until finally sugar is made from sugar cane.

First, sugar cane is grown for 12 to 18 months until it is ready to be harvested. After that, the crop is harvested either by machine or by hand. Next, the harvested sugar cane is crushed to extract the juice.

After the juice is collected, it is purified by passing it through a limestone filter. The clean juice is then heated in an evaporator, where the water is removed and the juice becomes syrup.

In the next stage, the syrup is placed in a centrifuge, which separates the sugar crystals from the remaining liquid. Finally, the sugar crystals are dried and cooled, and the finished sugar is ready for use.
