The diagram below shows the manufacturing process for making sugar from sugar cane.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

How sugar is produced from sugar cane

Student answer (Band 6.0)

The diagram illustrates process of manufacturing sugar from sugar cane. Process have different stages from beginning growing to end with drying and cooling.

Overall, process have several stages with from beginning, growing of sugarcane to end with drying and cooling of sugar and process take some stages for prepare sugar.

Firstly, sugar canes take time for growing between 12 to 18 months after that, sugar canes harvested through two process. First method, sugar canes are harvested by machine. Secondly, sugar canes are harvested by farmer with their hand, after that it is crushed by machine after it will give juice.

Purified juice is filtered in limestone after, juice becomes syrup during giving heat In evaporator, next step is centrifuge. in centrifuge, sugar are separated ,while it become crystals from syrup. In last step, sugar crystals are drying and cooling in one big jar and sugar become completely prepare from sugar canes.
