The diagram below shows the manufacturing process for making sugar from sugar cane.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

How sugar is produced from sugar cane

Student answer (Band 6.0)

The diagram shows the process of how to manufacture of making sugar from sugar cane.

The sugar cane go through multiple steps from harvesting sugar canes to crushing then and making juice from it and dry it.

One of the first step is to grow the sugar canes for 12-18 months and grown it, then with the help of tractors or by person you harvest it and spend it into the machine which crush the sugar canes into the juice and this process is called crushing. Since the juice comes it gone through a limestone filter which help to purify the juice, then with help of heat it is store into large container and put it on burner, that help to evaporate water and juice becomes syrup. After that the sugar crystals separates from syrup, this process is called Centrifuge. At last, this crystals are put in container for drying and cooling and form the Sugar.
