Student answer (Band 6.5)

The given schematic diagram illustrates the information about process of manufacring of sugar from sugarcane in different variable stages with specified informative labelings.

Overall, the process is mentioned in seven diiferent stages with perticular time duration and mechanisms which used during the manufacturing of sugar.

First and the foremost stage of whole process is of 12 to 18 months duration which is about farming of sugarcane. As diagram shows that sugarcanes are grows in their growing stage and after that, harvesting process is being done. this second stage of harvesting process has two different ways ; harvesting could be done by a tractor or it could be done by farmers. they can harvest directly with the help of sickle. Furthermore step is crushing of sugarcanes by mechanical process and raw juice of sugarcane is taken.

Half of the process is done till here; another stages contains more valuable mechanism in making of sugar. fourth stage is about purifying juice in which limestone filter is used. After purifying the juice, pour it immediaetly into the evaporator, where juice converts into syrup with the help of heating method. after that, main two stages remained that is to centrifuge that syrup and it will separates sugar crystals from syrup. then raw sugar crystals are stored in acontainer for cooling and drying. this is how sugar is madeup from sugarcane.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0

The response covers all stages of the process, from farming to the final storage of sugar. You have successfully identified the main features and provided a clear overview. However, the description of the stages could be more precise. For example, you mention 'half of the process is done' which is subjective and unnecessary. To improve, focus on describing the transformation of the raw material more objectively. The inclusion of the time duration (12-18 months) is a good detail, but ensure you maintain a formal tone throughout, avoiding conversational phrases like 'this is how sugar is madeup'.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is logically organized, moving chronologically through the manufacturing process. You use some cohesive devices such as 'Furthermore', 'After', and 'After that' to link ideas. However, the paragraphing is weak; the entire body of the process is compressed into one long paragraph, which makes it harder to follow. Additionally, some transitions feel slightly mechanical. To reach a higher band, use a wider variety of linking words and ensure that each paragraph has a clear focus, perhaps separating the initial agricultural phase from the industrial processing phase.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.5

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'schematic diagram', 'manufacturing', 'harvesting', and 'centrifuge'. However, there are several spelling errors ('manufacring', 'diiferent', 'perticular', 'immediaetly', 'madeup') and some awkward phrasing such as 'variable stages' and 'informative labelings'. These errors do not impede communication, but they do limit the score. To improve, focus on accurate spelling of technical terms and use more precise collocations, such as 'the process involves' rather than 'the process is mentioned'.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors. Examples include 'sugarcanes are grows' (subject-verb agreement), 'another stages contains' (plural/singular mismatch), and 'it will separates' (incorrect verb form). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with some sentences lacking proper capitalization after periods. While the meaning remains clear, the frequency of these errors prevents a higher score. Focus on subject-verb agreement and consistent tense usage, as process descriptions should generally remain in the present simple tense.
