The diagram below shows the manufacturing process for making sugar from sugar cane.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

How sugar is produced from sugar cane

Student answer (Band 6.0)

The diagram represents the cultivation of sugar and its process of being converted into sugar cane for consumer.

Overall, the sugar cane manufacturing process is a seven step procedure where it is plucked from the roots and taken under varieties of machine for modifications.

Initially, the sugar cane is grown under the right environmental conditions for 12 to 18 months which is later harvested by workers through tractors. In continuation to ,it is crushed in a crushing machine to convert the longs sticks into liquid form, Furthermore, the juice is placed in a limestone purifier for purification purposes.

Consequently, the juice needs to be converted into a syrup by placing it inside an evaporator machine under heat. Leading to, the next phase is the centrifugal procedure where the sugar crystals are being separated from the syrup and later on, that sugar crystals are kept for drying and cooling to make it fit for consumer use.
