Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response covers all stages of the process, from the growth of sugar cane to the final product. The overview identifies the number of steps and the start and end points, which is a good approach. However, the description is somewhat mechanical and lacks a more analytical tone. While the main features are reported, the response could be improved by grouping the stages more logically (e.g., preparation, processing, and refining) rather than listing them sequentially. The information is accurate based on the diagram, but the development of the summary is basic.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The response is organized into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear progression from the beginning to the end of the process. Cohesive devices such as 'The first step', 'After', 'Next', and 'Lastly' are used to guide the reader. However, some of the transitions feel a bit repetitive or mechanical. The paragraphing is appropriate for a process description, but the overall flow could be enhanced by using a wider variety of linking phrases to connect the stages more fluidly.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is adequate for the task, with terms like 'purification', 'evaporator', 'centrifuge', and 'sugar crystals' used correctly. However, there are several spelling errors, such as 'sugarcanes', 'thge', 'suffencfly', 'complited', and 'saperating', which detract from the quality of the writing. While the student demonstrates a sufficient range to describe the process, the frequency of these errors limits the score. More precise collocations would also improve the lexical range.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The response uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, including 'production process of sugar form sugar cane' (preposition error), 'in this production there are total seven' (missing article), and 'with this phrase complited' (incorrect word choice). While these errors do not prevent the reader from understanding the process, they occur frequently enough to impact the overall accuracy. The student should focus on proofreading for basic subject-verb agreement and article usage.
