Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response covers the main stages of the sugar production process, from growing to the final drying and cooling phase. However, the overview is weak; it merely lists the number of steps rather than highlighting the key stages or the transformation of the raw material. Furthermore, the description of the process is somewhat fragmented, and the final sentence is incomplete, which impacts the clarity of the report. While the main features are identified, the lack of a cohesive summary and the incomplete ending prevent a higher score. To improve, ensure you provide a clear, concise overview of the entire process in the introduction and ensure all sentences are complete.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the logical flow is hindered by frequent grammatical errors and awkward phrasing. While some transition words like 'Moreover' and 'After that' are used, they are often applied mechanically. The referencing is sometimes unclear, and the final paragraph ends abruptly mid-sentence, which disrupts the coherence of the response. Paragraphing is present but not always used effectively to group related stages of the process. To improve, focus on using a wider variety of cohesive devices and ensure that each paragraph has a clear, complete structure that guides the reader through the process logically.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is limited and repetitive, with frequent spelling errors such as 'suger' instead of 'sugar', 'forom' instead of 'from', and 'waporator' instead of 'evaporator'. There is a lack of precision in describing the technical stages of the process. While the student attempts to use process-related vocabulary, the persistent spelling mistakes and the misuse of terms like 'bad particals' (impurities) and 'waporator' (evaporation) indicate a restricted range. To improve, focus on learning the correct spelling of key process terms and expanding your vocabulary to include more precise verbs and nouns related to industrial manufacturing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response contains a high frequency of grammatical errors, including subject-verb agreement issues ('Suger cane takes a time'), incorrect article usage, and awkward sentence structures. There is a limited range of complex structures, and the ones attempted often contain errors, such as 'after seprating suger particles it will go forom drying'. Punctuation is also inconsistent, and the incomplete final sentence is a significant error. While the meaning is generally understandable, the frequency of errors is high enough to cause some difficulty for the reader. Focusing on basic sentence construction and proofreading for common errors would be highly beneficial.
