Student answer (Band 6.0)

The process diagram illustrates the production process of sugar produced from sugar cane.

Overall, the process consists of seven stages, beginning with agriculture and the growing stage and ending with the drying and cooling of sugar.

First of all, the cultivation of crops takes 12 to 18 months to grow into large sugar cane. After that, farmers harvest these crops with two methods by using a tractor and an axe. Then, the harvested sugarcane is passed through a crushing machine, which converted into juice. Next, it undergoes a limestone filter to purify the juice and remove any solid particles.

In the next stage, the purified juice is filled into an evaporator over a high-temperature flame, which transformed into syrup. Following this, the syrup is passed through a centrifuge rotator that helps to separate sugar crystals from the syrup. Ultimately, wet sugar crystals are transferred into a container for the drying and cooling process to make it finally usable.
