The diagram below shows the manufacturing process for making sugar from sugar cane.

How sugar is produced from sugar cane

Student answer (Band 6.0)

The diagram demonstrates the manufacturing process for making sugar from sugar cane by passing through different stages.

Overall, the whole process of making sugar depends on seven steps to implement for its development. The process of making sugar starts from growing sugar cane and then after other different stages it is ended on drying and cooling sugar centrifuge.

In detail, farmers grow sugar cane in 12 to 18 months after that the next step is to harvest the sugar can either by harvesting machine or by labour. The next stage is to crush the sugar cane by crushing machine. Once the juice is ready the further process is to purify juice by limestone filter. Furthermore, when the juice is purified by filter it is put on evaporator for making syrup of juice by providing the heat to the evaporator. The next step is to separates sugar crystals from syrup by using centrifuge. The last stage of sugar is to dry and cool the sugar and then sugar is ready for use.
