The diagram below shows the manufacturing process for making sugar from sugar cane.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

How sugar is produced from sugar cane

Student answer (Band 6.0)

The diagram illustration presents the information of steps related to sugar formation from sugar cane.

Overall, it comprises on many steps. Its shows sugar manufacturing from harvesting the sugar canes and how sugar is produced after cooling process. Well, there are 2 ways of cutting sugar canes.

The process starts when sugar canes grow completely in 12-18 months. Then they can be harvested by labour or machines. Afterwards, sugar canes are crushed into juice. Later on, the process of juice purification take places, purification happens with the help of limestone filter, which filters the juice. This purified juice gets into evaporator, which transforms juice into syrup by heating it from the bottom of evaporator. Subsequently, the syrup gets into centrifuge stage, where sugar crystals separate from syrup with the use of centrifugal force. After that, sugar enters a refrigeration process, in which, sugar becomes dry and cool. After this stage, we can get sugar.
