The diagram below shows the manufacturing process for making sugar from sugar cane.

Student answer (Band 6.0)

The illustration gives information about the process of producing sugar from sugar cane material. Overall, there are seven different stages of this process and harvesting can be done in two different ways from modren tractor machine and human force.

It is quite evident from the diagram that there are seven different steps in this manufacturing process. At the first stage, farmers grow the sugar cane crop for one and a half years and then harvest it through two different methods, first with modern machines and second by hand, followed by crushing the sugar cane in a machine to get fresh sugar cane juice.

Furthermore, at the next stage, the juice is purified by a limestone filter, and after this, the purified juice is heated for evaporation and the juice becomes a thick syrup, in a further step sugar crystals separated form syrups through the process of centrifugation and then, at the end those sugar crystals are put in a large box for drying and cooling.
