The diagram below shows the manufacturing process for making sugar from sugar cane.

Student answer (Band 6.0)

The diagram demonstrates the steps involved in the manufacturing process for making sugar from sugar cane.

Overall, it is clear that all the steps involved in the production of sugarcane from sugar, are interlinked with each other.

It is clearly seen that the process of manufacturing of sugarcane is starting with the growing of sugarcanes, which takes about 12-18 months to grow, effectively. Then, the grown sugarcanes are harvested with the help of farmers and machines as well. Followed this, crushing of harvested sugarcane, takes place which is helpful to produce sugarcane juice. Then, the sugarcane juice is purified carefully, with the help of the limestone filter.

After the filtration of sugarcane juice, the evaporation of juice takes places in the evaporated which turns the juice into syrup. Following this, is the process known as, centrifugation, takes place which helps in the separation of the sugar crystals from the syrup. After centrifugation, drying as well as cooling of centrifuged sugar takes place. After drying and cooling, the freshly prepared sugar is prepared efficiently.
