The diagram below shows the manufacturing process for making sugar from sugar cane.

How sugar is produced from sugar cane

Student answer (Band 6.0)

The diagram illustrates the stages for producing sugar from sugar cane. Overall, the process is divided into seven steps, which is mainly conducted through physical, mechanical and chemical work.

In the begining, sugarcanes are planted in the farm, it take about one year to eighteen months to grow fully. These sugarcanes are then cut of by the farmers as well as tactors are used to collect all canes this stage is called harvesting. Sugarcanes are collected for mechanical process, where sugar canes rolled into a huge curshing machine here sugar canes are squzeed and all the juice is collected in a drum.

Once all the juice are collected, they enter into purification process and filtered with limestone, here all the unwanted particles are sperated and purifed liquid are collected. The juice are more filtired by an evaporation process by heating in a cotainer to make syrup. There by, these liqufied syrup enter into centrifuge stage sugar are spreated frrom the collected syrup and finally all the sugar enter into a final stage, where the sugar are dryed and cooling is done to distribute them in a package for selling in the market.
