The diagram below shows the manufacturing process for making sugar from sugar cane.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

How sugar is produced from sugar cane

Student answer (Band 6.0)

This diagram illustrates the manufacturing process for making sugar from sugar cane. Overall, the stages are divided into seven method, which begain by cultivation of the suagr cane and ends with production of the sugar.

Intially, the sugarcanes are planted in farm, they take apporimately 12 to 18 months to grow fully. Once, the plant is matured, farmer cut them mannually with the sickle knife or with the huge tractors all the crops are collected, this process is called harvesting.

After collecting, the stalks are then transfered into a huge curshing machine to squeez all the juice and are collected into a container. These juice are purified with the help of filter machine, where all the liquid is filltered through limestone, to remove all the impurity. They juice is goes under a process called evaporation, all the unwanted particels are seprated by a heating method, in this process a thick liquid is form called as syrup.

Finally, to seperated the liquid for the formation of sugar a centrifuge process is done by spining machine. These seprated sugar is colleted for drying and cooling, then the sugar are packed and distributed to the market for sell.
