Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response covers all the main steps in the sugar manufacturing process, starting from growing the sugar cane to the final drying and cooling stage. However, the overview provided in the introduction is very basic and lacks a clear summary of the key features, such as the total number of main stages involved. Some descriptions are slightly repetitive or informal, such as "put on the trucks" and "set on the fire". While the overall sequence is successfully tracked from the initial cultivation to the centrifuge and final cooling, the development of ideas is limited due to simplistic phrasing and minor omissions in detailing specific equipment like the limestone filter. Consequently, the response meets the requirements for a Band 5.0.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The response is organized into paragraphs, attempting to separate the introduction, growing and harvesting stages, and the subsequent processing steps. However, the logical progression is frequently disrupted by poor cohesive devices and repetitive linking words like "then" and "after that". Paragraphing is somewhat arbitrary, with the main processing steps crammed into a single dense paragraph. Referencing is also unclear in places, such as "they someone harvesting", which creates confusion regarding the agents performing the actions. Overall, the organizational structure shows some logic but lacks cohesive control, aligning best with a Band 5.0 descriptor.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is basic and repetitive, frequently relying on simple words like "make", "sugar cane", and "machine". There are several word choice and collocation errors, such as "process of make sugar start to grow", "frome", and "containars". Less common lexical items are attempted but used inaccurately, for example, "manufactured place" instead of "processing plant" or "factory". Spelling mistakes are noticeable throughout the text. The lexical range is minimally adequate to convey the basic steps of the diagram, but frequent errors place this firmly at Band 5.0.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.5

The text displays a very limited range of grammatical structures. Simple sentences dominate, and attempts at complex or compound sentences often result in severe grammatical errors and faulty punctuation, such as comma splices and run-on sentences in phrases like "Moreover, the juice is load in the purifying juice machines and machine clean the juice." Subject-verb agreement and article usage are frequently incorrect, as seen in "the sugar are manufactured" and "take tin the evaporator machine". Frequent errors across all sentences cause considerable strain for the reader, fitting the Band 4.0 descriptors closely, though the basic communication of steps warrants a 4.5.
