Student answer (Band 5.0)
The diagram illustartes that how sugar is produced from sugar cane. Overall, the production process involves several stages, starting with the collection of raw materials and ending with the final product being packaged and delivered.
After analyzing, it can be seen clearly that in the first step had growing the sugar canes from (12-18 months) that given proper water and soil produced in the growing formation. The second step had harvesting the crops by farmers and the threshing machine. After that crushing the sugar canes and put out the juice and then purifying juice with limestone filter.Furthermore, juice put in the evaporator and then medium heat will be provided then juice becomes syrup. Howerver, the centrifuge becomes seprates sugar crystals from syrup. Finally the last step had drying and cooling in a sugar container.
Consequently, there are seven steps, which are used to make the products. All steps are interlinked with eachother, omission of any step may halt the whole diagram.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The student attempts to describe the sugar manufacturing process, identifying the seven main stages from growing to drying and cooling. However, the overview provided at the end of the introduction is inaccurate, incorrectly stating that the final product is "packaged and delivered," which is not shown in the diagram. Furthermore, some details are misread or awkwardly phrased, such as stating that the first step "had growing the sugar canes" or mentioning a "threshing machine" instead of the depicted mechanical harvester. While the general sequence is followed, the response lacks precision in reporting key features and contains inaccuracies regarding the visual data. Therefore, it meets the criteria for Band 5.0, as it addresses the task partially with some under-developed and inaccurate ideas.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The response is organized into three paragraphs, including an introduction, body, and a concluding remark. However, the overall progression is disjointed. Cohesive devices are used awkwardly or incorrectly, such as "After analyzing, it can be seen clearly that in the first step had growing" and "Howerver, the centrifuge becomes seprates sugar crystals from syrup." Paragraphing is attempted, but the final paragraph consists of minor concluding remarks that feel tacked on. Referencing and logical transitions between steps are frequently faulty, leading to mechanical and sometimes confusing connections. This performance aligns with Band 5.0 descriptors, where some organization is present but overall progression is hindered by inadequate or inaccurate cohesive devices.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The student demonstrates a limited range of vocabulary, relying heavily on basic terms and repetitive structures from the prompt. There are numerous word choice and spelling errors throughout the text, such as "illustartes," "Howerver," and "seprates." Attempts to use less common vocabulary result in awkward collocations and ungrammatical phrases, such as "growing formation" and "put out the juice." Although the vocabulary is minimally adequate to convey the basic topic, the frequent errors and restricted lexical range prevent the score from rising higher. This corresponds to a Band 5.0 level.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
Grammatical control is weak throughout the response. The text contains frequent non-sentences and major structural errors, such as "The diagram illustartes that how sugar is produced" (unnecessary inclusion of 'that') and "in the first step had growing the sugar canes." Simple sentence structures are handled with difficulty, and attempts at more complex clauses result in severe inaccuracies and missing verbs. Punctuation is also erratic. These persistent errors cause significant difficulty for the reader and reflect the Band 5.0 descriptor, where frequent errors in grammar are apparent and complex structures are frequently faulty.
