The diagram below shows the manufacturing process for making sugar from sugar cane.

Student answer (Band 6.0)

The given diagram illustrates the overall process of making sugar from the sugarcane.

Overall the very first process is to let the sugarcane grow for approximately 12 to 18 months. After that there are two ways of harvesting this sugarcane. One is by using the labour and other one is by using the latest machinery. After harvesting the sugarcane, it is crushed and make the juice of it. This juice is then passed to a Limestone filter to purify the juice from the dirt. When the juice is purified, it is sent to the evaporator which makes the syrup of that purified juice on heating. In the next step, the sugar crystals are sreparted from that syrup. And the final stage is to let the sugar to be dried and cooled. So that, it can be used by the people. After being dried, the sugar is loaded and sent to the shops,where people buy and eat it.
