The diagram below shows the manufacturing process for making sugar from sugar cane.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

How sugar is produced from sugar cane

Student answer (Band 5.5)

The provided images represent the process of making sugar from sugar cane. It is a linear process.

Generally, it takes seven steps for manufacturing sugar which starts from growing sugarcane all the way to refine sugar that is obtained.The most time taking step in this process is regarding as initail one where plnat need to be fully grown.

In the begining, the plantation of sugarcane are planted into the soil which takes around 1 to 1.5 years to fully mature into the sugarcane of size ready to be harvested. The sugarcane are either harvested with huge equipment machine such as tractor or it can be harvested by hand with the help of sickel. in its second step. Then the harvested sugarcane are crushed into the machine inordetr to extract the juice out of it, which later is purify with the help of limestone filter, removing all the unnecessary things from it.

Furthermore, the purify juice is poured into big vessel for evaporation so that the juice is converted into the syrup. After this, sugar is seperated from the syrup and formed into the crystals shape. Finally, the crystal are dried and left to cooled converting it into sugar. Likethis, the sugar is manufactured.
