Student answer (Band 5.5)

The presented diagram illustrates the process of how Suger is mage from sugercan with the help of verious machineries and different steps that are been followed.

Overall,it is a procces with several stages where it begins with planting and growing sugercan and ends with the fully formed suger which is redy to distribute among the venders. The main stages involves growing,Harvesting,Crushing,Purifing juice,Evaporator,Centifuge, and lastely cooling and drying.

first of all, it starts with plantaion of sugercan which takes approximately 12 to 18 months to get grow fullly and right after it get harvest in two different ways one technice is bey there specialised machineres whereas second technince is havesting by bare hand.

Moving further, it passes through the crusher machine where the liquide(juice) is extracted from the sugercan and get purified by limestone filter then the juice is hetaed untile it beomes the syrup. Following this, it passes to Centriuge proccess where the suger crystel is separated from the syrup

lastely the suger crystels are moved where it get cooled and also get dryed.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

The response successfully addresses all parts of the task by outlining the main stages of the sugar cane manufacturing process, from growing to drying and cooling. An overview is provided, highlighting that it is a multi-stage process beginning with planting and ending with ready-to-distribute sugar. However, some aspects of the process are under-developed or treated superficially. For instance, the two methods of harvesting are mentioned briefly, but the description of the later mechanical and chemical stages lacks precise detail regarding how the evaporator and centrifuge actually function within the workflow. While the main steps are correctly identified and sequenced, a more thorough expansion of the specific transformations at each stage would be needed to reach a higher level.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The text displays a coherent overall arrangement with a clear attempt to structure the response into an introduction, an overview paragraph, and body paragraphs detailing the steps. Logical progression is established using sequence markers such as 'Overall', 'first of all', 'Moving further', and 'lastely'. However, referencing and cohesion are at times mechanical or faulty, as seen in run-on sentences and loose transitions like 'Moving further, it passes through the crusher machine where the liquide(juice) is extracted from the sugercan and get purified by limestone filter then the juice is hetaed untile it beomes the syrup.' Paragraphing is used, but internal cohesion within paragraphs can be disjointed, restricting the flow of information and preventing the response from achieving a smoother, more sophisticated progression.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is adequate to communicate the basic steps of the process, attempting less common terms such as 'machineries', 'limestone filter', 'evaporator', and 'centrifuge'. However, there are numerous noticeable errors in spelling, word form, and word choice throughout the text, such as 'Suger' instead of sugar, 'mage' instead of made, 'sugercan' instead of sugar cane, 'verious' instead of various, 'procces' instead of process, 'vendres' instead of vendors, 'technice' instead of technique, 'liquide' instead of liquid, 'hetaed' instead of heated, and 'crystel' instead of crystal. These spelling and lexical inaccuracies cause some distraction for the reader, though communication of the overall process remains intact.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response employs a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating attempts at relative clauses and passive constructions, such as 'which takes approximately 12 to 18 months to get grow fullly' and 'where the suger crystel is separated from the syrup.' There are, however, several grammatical errors and awkward phrasing choices, including missing articles ('get harvest in two different ways'), tense and verb form inconsistencies ('get grow fullly', 'get harvest'), punctuation oversights (missing spaces and commas after introductory elements like 'Overall,it'), and run-on structures. These errors occur regularly but rarely impede overall understanding, fitting the profile of a response where simple sentences are controlled better than complex ones.
