Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

The response successfully addresses all parts of the task by outlining the main stages of the sugar cane manufacturing process, from growing to drying and cooling. An overview is provided, noting the starting point of cultivation and the final stage of cooling. However, some aspects of the process are under-developed or described with slight inaccuracies, such as stating that sugar is cooled under high temperature instead of low or ambient temperature. The progression of the steps is generally captured, but the description lacks the level of extension and precise detail characteristic of a higher band, leaving certain stages feeling somewhat superficial.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The text maintains a coherent overall arrangement with a clear attempt to structure the process sequentially using cohesive devices such as 'To start with', 'Moreover', and 'Moving toward the remaining steps'. Paragraphing is used to separate the introduction, overview, and body details. However, cohesion is at times mechanical and faulty, particularly with awkward transitional phrases like 'regarding to the detail analysis'. Referencing and logical progression between sentences occasionally falter, which places the response firmly within the mid-range for this criterion.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

The writer demonstrates an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting less common terms related to the process such as 'evaporate', 'centrifuge', and 'limestone filter'. However, there are notable spelling errors ('Curshing', 'framers' instead of farmers, 'cyrstal') and occasional word-choice issues or awkward formations ('harvest by manual', 'wheel machine'). While these lexical slips do not completely impede communication, they restrict the score, as the control over word form and precise collocation is inconsistent throughout the response.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response employs a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, though attempts at complex structures frequently contain grammatical errors. There are issues with prepositions, verb forms, and voice, such as 'harvest from manual with the help of framers' and 'the second last step is called centrifuge... by using the wheel machine'. Punctuation and article usage also show frequent lapses, including redundant brackets in the opening paragraph. These errors require some effort from the reader to parse, aligning the grammar with a limited range of accurate structures.
