Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

The response addresses all parts of the prompt by covering the main stages of the sugar manufacturing process from growing to drying and cooling, and presents a clear overview. However, some aspects of the process are under-developed or lack sufficient detail. For instance, the two methods of harvesting (manual and mechanical) shown in the diagram are entirely omitted, and the description of certain steps, such as the centrifuge stage, lacks precise reporting of the visual information. While the linear progression is generally outlined, the lack of depth in covering specific visual details prevents the response from achieving a higher band.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response demonstrates a coherent overall arrangement with a clear logical progression from the beginning to the end of the process. Information is grouped into sensible paragraphs, with an introduction, an overview, and body paragraphs detailing the stages. Cohesive devices such as 'Overall', 'According to the diagram', and 'Afterward' are used to guide the reader through the sequence, though referencing and cohesion can occasionally feel mechanical or repetitive. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the overview from the detailed body sections, fulfilling the requirements for this level while showing hints of clearer organizational control.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, successfully communicating the general steps of the process. However, there are noticeable word choice and word form errors throughout the text, such as 'manufacture' instead of 'manufactured', 'proces' instead of 'process', and 'purifing' instead of 'purifying'. The student attempts some less common vocabulary related to the process, such as 'evaporator', 'centrifuge', and 'limestone filter', but these attempts are accompanied by spelling and morphological inaccuracies that reflect a limited and minimally controlled lexical range.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response exhibits a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, attempting structures like relative clauses and passive constructions. However, there are frequent grammatical errors in verb forms, subject-verb agreement, and prepositions, such as 'The diagram explain', 'sugarcanes are growing upto', 'which is then came upto', and 'the sugarcane is passes'. These errors in grammar and punctuation occur frequently throughout the text and occasionally cause some difficulty for the reader, anchoring the score firmly at this band level.
