Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.
How sugar is produced from sugar cane
Student answer (Band 5.0)
Manufacturing Process of Sugar:
There are differents process involve in manufacturing of sugar
1 Growing of Sugar Cane:
Farmer grow sugar in atleast in 3 months and then they become ready for further action.
2 Harvesting:
When growing process is completed then farmer cut the sugar cane plants ,through with hande or technical machines.
3 Crushing:
sugar cane crush with a specific machine to the remove the Juice.
4 Purifying Juice:
After Crushing the juice purified with limestone filter.
5: Avaporator:
such the pure juice are then heated and the juice become syrup.
6 Centrifuge:
It is a machine that rotate the syrup, for the main purpose to separates sugar crystal from the crystal syrup.
Drying and cooling:
After centrifugal process of crystal syrup, it needs drying and cooling because they are heated in evaporated process and then sugar meal labor put intpackeks and then they are ready comes to markets.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
You identify the main stages, from growing and harvesting through crushing, purification, evaporation, centrifuging, and drying. You also correctly mention the limestone filter and that heating turns the juice into syrup. However, the account is only a partial and sometimes inaccurate report of the diagram: the cane takes 12–18 months to grow, not “atleast in 3 months,” and the final stage produces sugar rather than describing packing and transport to markets, which are not shown. The overview is also missing, so the reader is not given a concise summary of the process as a whole. To strengthen the response, state the correct growing period and summarise the sequence and its outcome before describing the stages.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The numbered headings make the stages easy to identify, and the sequence generally follows the diagram from growing to drying and cooling. This gives the response some organisation. However, the presentation reads more like disconnected notes than a connected process summary: there is no introductory overview, and transitions such as “When growing process is completed” and “After Crushing” are repetitive or awkward. The final stage is not clearly separated from the preceding explanation, and the added market claim disrupts the progression. Use a short overview followed by logically grouped stages, and connect them with clear sequencing language such as “Next,” “Following this,” and “Finally,” while keeping each sentence focused on the diagram.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use several relevant process terms, including “limestone filter,” “evaporator,” “centrifuge,” and “crystal,” which help communicate the subject. However, the vocabulary range is limited and there are noticeable spelling, word-form, and collocation problems that sometimes make meaning difficult to follow. Examples include “differents process,” “Avaporator,” “crystal syrup,” and “sugar meal labor.” Some expressions are also imprecise, such as “technical machines” for mechanical harvesting equipment. Aim to use accurate process vocabulary consistently and check spelling and natural word combinations. For instance, describe the centrifuge as separating sugar crystals from the remaining syrup, rather than referring to “crystal syrup.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
The response attempts both short statements and longer clauses, and the numbered stage labels help make the intended sequence understandable. However, grammatical control is weak: errors are frequent, and some sentences are difficult to interpret. For example, “Farmer grow sugar in atleast in 3 months” has problems with articles, agreement, and sentence construction, while “the juice purified with limestone filter” is missing an auxiliary and an article. In “the main purpose to separates,” the verb form is also incorrect. Use a consistent present simple passive for process descriptions, such as “The juice is purified through a limestone filter,” and check subject–verb agreement, articles, and complete sentence structure.
