Student answer (Band 5.5)
The linear diagram illustrate the preparing process for making sugar from sugar cane.
In an overview , there are total seven step in this diagram . As well as the manufacturing of sugar sugar plant to drying and cooling .
First and foremost , in this diagram the first step of sugar plant ready into 12 to 18 months , and when they full prepare at least cutting the suagr plants sometime cutting plants man and sometime cutting with the help of machienery . However deliver into the crushing machiene and the help of crushing machiene to prepare a juice , and the juice deliver into the limestone filter , and the help of filter to got purify juice . Furthermore , the purify juice deliver in a cane and heated this juice at least the water are evaporate and juice becomes a syrup shape .
At least but not last the syrup delivered into the centrifuge and separetes sugar crystals from syrup . At the end of the final result the separates sugar crystals from syrup are drying and cooling and finally they got a sugar and they deliverd a sugar shape new.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You cover the main stages in the correct order, from cane growth through harvesting, crushing, purification, evaporation and centrifuging to drying and cooling. You also include the diagram’s 12–18-month growing period and both harvesting methods, so the account is relevant and addresses the process as a whole. The overview identifies seven stages, but “the manufacturing of sugar sugar plant to drying and cooling” does not clearly summarise the process’s main transformation. Some details are also unclear or imprecise: the diagram shows juice being heated until it becomes syrup, rather than saying that water evaporates, and the final stage produces sugar after drying and cooling. Make the overview more informative and describe each stage precisely to strengthen coverage.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, an overview, and two paragraphs that follow the process from cultivation to the final product. The sequence is generally easy to trace, and connectors such as “First and foremost,” “Furthermore,” and “At the end” help signal progression. However, some linking is mechanical or awkward, particularly “At least but not last,” and several long sentences join multiple stages with repeated “and” or “and the help of.” This makes relationships between actions less clear. Use shorter sentences where the process changes stage, and connect steps with precise references such as “The resulting juice is then filtered” to make cohesion smoother and less repetitive.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant process vocabulary, including “limestone filter,” “evaporate,” “syrup,” “centrifuge,” and “sugar crystals,” which helps communicate the diagram’s subject. However, the range is limited and several word choices or forms are inaccurate, sometimes making the meaning difficult to follow. For example, “sugar plant” is used where “sugar cane” is needed, “got purify juice” is not a natural expression, and “sugar shape new” does not clearly describe the final product. Spelling errors such as “suagr,” “machienery,” and “separetes” also reduce precision. Build a bank of accurate process verbs and collocations, and check spelling and word forms carefully.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and longer sentences, and the reader can usually follow the overall sequence. However, errors in sentence structure, agreement, articles and verb forms occur throughout and sometimes obscure the relationships between stages. For example, “The linear diagram illustrate” has a subject–verb agreement error, while “there are total seven step” has problems with the article and plural form. The sentence beginning “However deliver into the crushing machiene” is incomplete, and “the juice deliver into the limestone filter” needs a passive verb form. Practise accurate passive constructions for process descriptions, such as “The juice is passed through a filter,” and use shorter, complete sentences before attempting longer linked structures.
