Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You identify the main stages, from growing and harvesting through crushing, purification, evaporation, centrifuging, and drying. You also include the key growing period of about 18 months and explain that heating turns juice into syrup. However, the response is under the required 150 words, so several stages and details are only briefly reported. Some information is inaccurate or unsupported: the diagram gives a growing period of 12–18 months, not “almost in eighteen months,” and it does not say harvesting happens in winter or that the machine is the sole harvesting method; it shows both mechanical and manual harvesting. The opening also promises a contrast that the process diagram does not require. A fuller, accurate overview and more detail on both harvesting methods would strengthen coverage.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The stages are mostly presented in the correct order, and linking expressions such as “after that,” “however,” and “on the other side” show an attempt to guide the reader through the process. This gives the response some organisation. However, the ideas are compressed into one paragraph, with no clear separation between an overview and the stage-by-stage account. Several connectors are not used logically: “however” does not signal a contrast between crushing and purification, while “on the other side” is unsuitable for the centrifuge stage. The opening sentence is also unclear and does not lead smoothly into the description. Use a brief overview followed by a logically grouped sequence, with simple, accurate transitions such as “next” and “finally.”
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use some relevant process vocabulary, including “crusher,” “limestone filter,” “Evaporator,” “Centrifuge,” “syrup,” and “sugar crystals,” which helps communicate the main stages. However, the range is limited and several choices or forms are inaccurate, making parts of the description awkward: “circ ut” (intended as “circuit”) does not describe this process, “take out as a form of juice” is imprecise, and “dry and cooling” is not a natural process phrase. Spelling errors such as “furthurmore,” “suger,” and “seprating” are noticeable. Aim for precise process collocations and check spelling; for example, describe cane being crushed to extract juice and crystals being separated from syrup.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The response attempts to connect stages in longer sentences, for example, “it cooked in an Evaporator, through heating process juice changed into syrup,” but these structures are often faulty. Verb forms and agreement are inconsistent: “sugar cane grows” shifts to “it get ready,” and “juice purified” lacks the auxiliary needed for a passive construction. Articles and sentence boundaries are also problematic, as in “through heating process juice changed into syrup,” where the clauses need clearer punctuation and grammatical links. Most sentences follow a similar simple pattern, so the range is limited. Practise accurate passive forms for process descriptions, such as “the juice is purified” and “the juice is heated,” and use full stops to separate complete stages.
