Student answer (Band 6.0)

The diagram illustrates how to make sugar from sugar cane.

Overall, the manufacturing process has seven different steps which is completed by two different stages such as collecting and manufacturing . The whole manufacturing process indicates a non-cyclic process which is starts with growing sugar cane and ends with sugar as a final product.

According to the diagram, suitable sugar cane is used to make sugar which age is between 12-18 month. it's collect from the planting area and stored it into a storage truck. The collector collect sugar cane manually and delivered it through harvesting.

In the second stage, collecting sugar cane is crushed by a machine and convert it to juice and delivered this juice for purifying. After completing purification, its delivered to evaporator section where juice becomes syrum by heat.By the end of evaporation, sugar crystal is separated from syrup by centrifugal force. Finally, by applying dying and cooling process, solid sugar is created and poured it into a collector.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You identify the process as a sequence from growing cane to finished sugar and include the key stages of crushing, purification, evaporation, separation, and drying. The overview also correctly notes that it is non-cyclical. However, some details are inaccurate or unclear: the diagram shows two harvesting methods, mechanical and manual, but your account mentions only manual collection and adds a storage truck and storage area that are not shown. The statement that cane is “between 12-18 month” old also misreads the label, which gives the growing period as 12–18 months. The final product is sugar, but pouring it into a collector is not depicted. Covering both harvesting methods and avoiding unsupported details would make the report more complete and precise.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, an overview, and a description of the stages in sequence. Linking expressions such as “Overall,” “In the second stage,” and “Finally” help the reader follow the process. However, the division into “two different stages such as collecting and manufacturing” is not clearly established by the diagram and makes the organisation less precise. Some links between actions are also awkward, as in “crushed by a machine and convert it to juice and delivered this juice for purifying,” where the sequence and subject are difficult to track. Use one clear paragraph to summarise the overall process, then describe the stages in order with consistent references to the cane, juice, syrup, and sugar.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

You use a reasonable range of process vocabulary, including “purifying,” “evaporator,” “syrup,” “crystal,” and “centrifugal force,” which helps communicate the main transformations. Some word choices and collocations are inaccurate or imprecise, however. “Collector” is used for the person harvesting and again for a container, while “delivered it through harvesting” does not clearly describe the movement of the cane. “Syrum” and “dying” are spelling errors for “syrup” and “drying,” and “collect” is repeated where “harvest” would be more suitable. Aim for precise process terms and check spelling, especially for key labels from the diagram; this will make the description clearer without requiring more elaborate vocabulary.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more extended sentences, and the overall meaning is usually recoverable. However, errors in verb forms, agreement, articles, and sentence construction occur across the response. For example, “the manufacturing process has seven different steps which is completed” has a plural subject with a singular verb, while “which is starts” combines incompatible verb forms. In “The collector collect sugar cane manually and delivered it,” the verb forms do not agree in tense or subject. Several sentences also omit necessary grammatical elements, as in “sugar cane which age is between 12-18 month.” Practise building accurate clauses with clear subjects and consistent present-simple verbs, which are appropriate for describing a process, and check punctuation around sentence boundaries.
