IELTS Writing Task 2 question

In the future, people may no longer be able to pay for things in shops using cash. All payments may have to be made by card or using phones. Do you think this will happen one day? Why do you think some people might not be happy to give up using cash?

The transition toward a cashless society has accelerated significantly in recent years. In my opinion, the total disappearance of physical currency is inevitable because of modern tachno;ogical advancements. However, significant segments of the population remain deeply reluctant to abandon paper money due to concerns regarding digital exclusion and personal privacy.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response is significantly under the required word count of 250 words, reaching only 90 words. Consequently, the task is only partially addressed. The vocabulary used is generally appropriate and shows some sophistication, such as 'unparalleled convenience', 'digital exclusion', and 'streamline'. There are minor spelling errors, such as 'tachno;ogical' (technological) and 'convinience' (convenience). Despite these errors, the range of vocabulary is sufficient to convey the intended meaning clearly. The student demonstrates an ability to use topic-specific terminology, which is a positive sign, but the limited volume of writing restricts the ability to demonstrate a wider range of lexical items.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5

The sentences produced are grammatically sound and demonstrate a good command of complex structures, such as the use of 'because' and 'due to' to provide reasons. Punctuation is generally accurate, although there is a typo in 'tachno;ogical'. The response shows a mix of simple and complex sentence forms.
