In the modern era, there has been a growing debate on whether people may no longer be able to spend cash in the shops and all payments may have to be made by cards or using phones. To begin with, new world has been shifting from giving cash to online money transfer. This is because it is a safe and secure medium to carry money. Moreover, it is very convient and safe to travel with phone and card insted of high amount of cash in the pocket. As a result, paying through cards have earining various cashback options. Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
The response addresses all parts of the prompt, providing a clear position on the future of cash and explaining the reasons for resistance to digital payments. The ideas are relevant, though the development is somewhat limited. For instance, the explanation regarding 'old habits' and 'cyber security' is clear but could be expanded with more nuanced analysis. The conclusion effectively summarizes the main points. To reach a higher band, ensure that each point is fully extended with more detailed examples or logical consequences, as some arguments feel slightly brief.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. Cohesive devices such as 'To begin with', 'Moreover', and 'On the other hand' are used to guide the reader. However, some transitions are slightly mechanical, and the flow between sentences could be smoother. For example, the transition in the final paragraph ('pendular swang the other way') is idiomatic but slightly awkward in this context. Referencing is generally clear, though some sentence structures are repetitive, which slightly impacts the overall flow.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
The vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing the writer to express ideas clearly. There are attempts to use less common vocabulary, such as 'inhabitants' and 'hindered', though some word choices are slightly imprecise or unnatural, such as 'pendular swang' or 'earining various cashback'. Spelling errors like 'convient' (convenient), 'insted' (instead), and 'thier' (their) occur. To improve, focus on mastering common collocations and ensuring accurate spelling of everyday academic vocabulary.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, such as 'paying through cards have earining' (should be 'has earned'), 'it could be caused cyber security fraud' (should be 'could cause'), and 'will be get emptied' (should be 'will be emptied'). Punctuation is generally functional, but the control over verb tenses and passive voice needs improvement. Increasing the frequency of error-free complex sentences will help raise the score in this criterion.
