Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, reaching only 199 words. This significantly impacts the development of ideas. While the essay addresses both parts of the prompt—the likelihood of a cashless future and reasons for resistance—the arguments are underdeveloped and lack sufficient supporting examples or depth. The position is stated, but the explanation remains superficial. To improve, you must expand on your points with specific examples, such as the impact on elderly populations or the digital divide, to ensure a more comprehensive response that meets the length requirement.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the logical progression is often hindered by awkward phrasing and limited use of cohesive devices. While some connectors like 'To commence with' and 'To conclude' are used, they are sometimes misused or do not effectively link the ideas. The transition between sentences is often abrupt, making the flow of the argument feel disjointed. To improve, focus on using a wider variety of linking words and ensure that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence that directly supports your main argument.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is somewhat limited and repetitive. There are several instances of awkward word choices, such as 'cash les transaction' (cashless transactions) and 'root couse' (root cause). The range of vocabulary is insufficient to express complex ideas with precision. You rely on basic structures and occasionally misuse terms, which impacts the clarity of your message. To reach a higher band, try to incorporate more topic-specific vocabulary related to finance and technology, and pay closer attention to spelling and standard collocations.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. There are issues with subject-verb agreement, such as 'individuals not pay' instead of 'individuals do not pay', and sentence fragments like 'all transaction done by personal gadgets'. The range of grammatical structures is limited, consisting mostly of simple sentences with some errors in punctuation and word order. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, ensuring correct verb tenses, and practicing the use of complex sentences to add variety and accuracy to your writing.
