Student answer (Band 6.5)

It is often argued that while few individuals think that in near future, people might only use there payment cards instead of cash, others claim opposite of it. Although, both have valid arguements, I firmly believe that some individuals will use still use cash as they threaten from scams . However, others will use cards as it is easy to use. I will discuss the reasons of it in the following paragraphs.

To begin with, First and foremost is, there are number of scams going on with the online payments and with debit/ credit cards. Although, they know how to use these cards, they get affraid of these scams. For example, one person came to me at work and told me that he lost his debit card. Could he get CCTV Phootage to give it to Police. Because his cards transactions showing $3500, which is a lot for that poor person. Therefore, this is one example of scams for which people do not like to use cards.

On the other hand, a large proportion of individuals uses there payment cards as they find it convineint. These are not only easy to carry but also easy to use.

To explain it, people nowadays even do not carry cards, they add them in their phones wallet. In this way, they do not need to carry cards also. Whenever they want to go anywhere, they just take their phone with them. Moreover, they can use it to pay for anything by using their phone.

Overall, some people may still use cash due to some scams they have seen, I firmly believe that cards are easy to use and large number of people will start using it.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

You have addressed both parts of the prompt: the likelihood of a cashless future and the reasons why some people prefer cash. Your position is clear from the introduction. However, the development of your ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the example regarding the stolen debit card is relevant but lacks a deeper analysis of the broader implications of digital security. To reach a higher band, ensure that your supporting points are fully explored rather than just stated. You have provided a balanced view, but the explanation of why people might be reluctant to give up cash could be more detailed to demonstrate a stronger grasp of the topic.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear progression of ideas from the introduction to the conclusion. You use some cohesive devices such as 'To begin with', 'On the other hand', and 'Moreover' to link your points. However, some of the transitions feel a bit mechanical, and the referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the sentence 'I will discuss the reasons of it', where 'it' does not clearly refer to a specific noun. Improving the variety of your linking words and ensuring that pronouns have clear antecedents will help improve the flow of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

Your vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing you to express your ideas clearly. You use some topic-specific terms like 'debit/credit cards', 'online payments', and 'CCTV'. However, there are several spelling errors, such as 'convineint' (convenient), 'affraid' (afraid), and 'Phootage' (footage). Additionally, there are some word choice issues, such as 'they threaten from scams' instead of 'they fear scams'. To improve, focus on accuracy in spelling and collocation. Expanding your range to include more sophisticated synonyms would also help elevate your score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While your meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with articles, subject-verb agreement, and sentence construction (e.g., 'there payment cards' instead of 'their payment cards', and 'a number of scams going on'). Some sentences are fragmented or awkward, such as 'Could he get CCTV Phootage to give it to Police.' These errors are noticeable but do not consistently impede communication. To improve, focus on proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy and ensuring that your complex sentences are constructed correctly.
