Student answer (Band 7.0)
One of the most conspicuous trends of today's globalized world is utilizing online payment options rather than spending cash and it will upsurge in the future too. In my opinion, there are more chances that, this will come true because of several reasons. however, some individuals might not like the perspective of giving up using cash completely.
There are numerous aspects why there is a possibility of it. The most preponderant one is that, people do not need to carry an excessive amount of money in their wallet every time they go out somewhere to buy so there will be less chances of money getting stolen. For example, if a person wants to purchase clothes then instead of paying by cash, credit or debit card can be used to spend on it. Secondly, it is beneficial in terms of safety and privacy such as if cards get compromised then it could be blocked anytime by just contacting and informing banks and nobody would be able to use the cards for fraudulent payment and people would end up saving and securing their money. Thirdly, there are some plans in which, payment could be done in the installments so that there are less chances of burden of paying the immense amount at the same time.
However, some people might not like the idea of not using cash completely as people have been used to of it since so long and they also have perception of orthodox thoughts of using cash every time.
In conclusion, some persons are not completely in favour of not using their cash, however in my opinion with this fast paced world, it is quite advantageous to utilize cards.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the likelihood of a cashless society and the reasons for resistance to this change. The position is clear throughout. However, the development of ideas is somewhat uneven. The arguments for the shift are well-supported with examples like security and installment plans, but the section regarding why people might be unhappy with the change is underdeveloped. It relies on vague references to 'orthodox thoughts' rather than exploring substantive issues like privacy concerns, the digital divide for the elderly, or technical failures. To reach a higher band, the second part of the prompt requires more detailed explanation and specific examples.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. The use of cohesive devices such as 'The most preponderant one', 'Secondly', and 'In conclusion' helps guide the reader. However, some transitions are slightly mechanical or repetitive. The paragraphing is appropriate, but the final paragraph is quite brief and lacks a strong concluding thought that synthesizes the arguments presented. The referencing is generally clear, though the flow between sentences could be improved by using a wider variety of linking words to connect ideas more fluidly rather than relying on simple enumerators.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
The student demonstrates an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, including some ambitious choices like 'conspicuous', 'upsurge', and 'preponderant'. However, there are instances of awkward collocation and word choice, such as 'used to of it' (should be 'used to it') and 'perspective of giving up' (should be 'idea of giving up'). Some phrasing is slightly unnatural, such as 'orthodox thoughts of using cash'. While the vocabulary is sufficient to convey meaning, the precision is inconsistent, and the student occasionally struggles with idiomatic usage. Expanding the range of collocations would improve the score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, such as 'there will be less chances' (should be 'fewer chances'), 'payment could be done in the installments' (should be 'in installments'), and 'some persons' (should be 'some people'). Punctuation is generally functional, but there are unnecessary commas, such as after 'because of several reasons' and 'in which'. While these errors do not impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher band score. Increasing the variety of complex structures while ensuring subject-verb agreement and article usage would be beneficial.
