Student answer (Band 6.5)

In the future, many people would like to pay for goods by using mobiles or banking cards instead of using cash. I think it will happen in the future and this essay will also discuss why some people not be happy to give up using cash.

To begin, with the reasons why many people would prefer to pay either by mobile or card. First of all, this payment methods are more secure than cash. In other words, sometime many people lost their money if they are carrying cash with them. Similarly, there is also risk of robbery whenever someone carrying a cash. For example, a survey was conduced in the USA, they found that 80 percent of individuals like to pay by new methods because these methods are more secure than the cash. Because it requires PIN code in order to pay or money withdraw. As a result, using mobile phones and cards are safer payment methods instead of using currency.

On the other hand, many people still like to use cash such as old people. Firstly, it is hard too teach senior citizens how they can pay by automobiles or card. In tandem with this, there are many local shops are available nowadays those are accepting only cash payments. For example , in the urban areas technology is not developed not properly, they give more preferance to cash. Therefore, it would be hard to give up money owning to old people and technology developments.

In conclusion, although many people believed that technology is not grown properly in villages and hard to tech senior citizens, yet I think that advanced payment methods are more helpful in oder to control theifs and crimes.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the likelihood of a cashless future and the reasons why some people might be reluctant to adopt it. The position is clear throughout. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the argument regarding 'old people' and 'local shops' is relevant but lacks depth and specific, well-explained examples. The mention of a survey in the USA is a good attempt at supporting evidence, but the explanation of why people are hesitant could be more robustly explored to reach a higher band. Overall, the response covers all requirements but remains at a general level of discussion.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'To begin', 'In other words', 'Similarly', and 'In conclusion', which help guide the reader. However, some transitions are mechanical or slightly awkward, such as 'In tandem with this' and 'In order to control theifs'. The referencing is generally clear, though the flow between sentences within paragraphs could be smoother. The paragraphing is appropriate, and the progression of ideas is logical, even if the supporting arguments are somewhat simplistic.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.5

The vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing the writer to express their ideas clearly. There are some attempts at less common vocabulary, such as 'conduced' (a misspelling of 'conducted') and 'preferance' (a misspelling of 'preference'). The use of 'automobiles' to refer to mobile phones is an incorrect word choice that causes confusion. While the range is sufficient to convey the message, the errors in spelling and word choice prevent the essay from reaching a higher band. More precise terminology related to finance and technology would improve the score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the flow, such as 'this payment methods are' (subject-verb agreement), 'sometime many people lost' (tense error), and 'technology is not developed not properly' (redundancy). Punctuation is generally functional, but there are minor errors, such as the space before the comma in 'For example ,'. While the meaning is usually clear, the frequency of these errors indicates a lack of control over more complex structures, keeping the score in the 6.0 range.
