Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the likelihood of a cashless society and the reasons why some people might resist this change. The position is clear throughout. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the argument regarding rural areas is relevant but could be expanded with more specific examples or deeper analysis of the socioeconomic implications. The introduction is slightly repetitive and lacks a strong thesis statement. To reach a higher band, ensure that each supporting point is fully explored with more depth and nuance rather than just listing reasons.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organised into logical paragraphs, with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'First of all', 'Secondly', 'On the other hand', and 'Moreover'. However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical or slightly awkward, such as the transition 'Whereas, It is risky...'. Additionally, some referencing is unclear, and the flow between sentences could be smoother. The paragraphing is appropriate, but the internal cohesion within paragraphs needs more variety to avoid a repetitive structure.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks range and precision. There are several instances of awkward phrasing and word choice errors, such as 'In the next era' instead of 'In the near future', and 'get rid oof from the physical money'. The student relies on basic vocabulary like 'good', 'hard', and 'stop', which limits the ability to convey more sophisticated ideas. To improve, the student should focus on learning collocations and more precise academic vocabulary related to finance and technology.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede readability. Examples include 'human could be only use' (incorrect modal usage), 'it can be steal' (passive voice error), and 'get used with' (incorrect preposition). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with the misuse of capital letters after commas. While the meaning is generally clear, the frequency of these errors prevents the essay from reaching a higher band. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and correct passive voice construction would be beneficial.
