IELTS Writing Task 2 question

In the future, people may no longer be able to pay for things in shops using cash. All payments may have to be made by card or using phones. Do you think this will happen one day? Why do you think some people might not be happy to give up using cash?

Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.

 

Student answer (Band 6.0)

It is possible that, In upcoming years, public will not be able to purchase anything by paying cash. The only option available will be card or using phone. I belive that it will happen but in partial way. However, some people may be not happy to accept this change because they are not any possibilities of getting any cyber fraud.

I believe that this will happen one day that most of the people will use only card method for paying but it will not be the only option everywhere. One of the main reasons for this is that there are some places which are not fully developed in technologies. This is because they don't want to destroy the vintage vibes of the area or shops. Furthermore, Some fancy restaurants and malls will prefer to have card payments instead of cash, as they want to adapt the new technologies For example, Now as well as in most of the restaurants Owners already started facing a lot of issue in giving exchange to customer as most of the customers paying their bills and tips through their cards instead of cash. Therefore, it is likely that there will be replacement of cash but not everywhere.

However, some people might not be happy to using the card for purchasing instead of cash for several reasons. Firstly, Some people do random jobs and because of that they usually get paid in cash . This means that they don't have that much amount in their bank account. For instance, some high school students doing the random job in summer vacation like selling lemonade or cleaning backyards of people, so they usually get paid in cash . Another reason is that the oldest people are now afraid of cyber fraud and because of that they always avoid to using cash. As a result, it will be not good for them.

In conclusion, I believe that some places will never be able to fully adapt card payment method and on the other hand some modern places will not have option for cash payment. Nevertheless, some people may find it difficult to accept this change because cash is the only money they have and some have trust issues regarding online banking.
