Student answer (Band 6.5)

In this technological world, it is mandatory to learn new things for each age group. In near future, individuals might not be be able to use physical currency as most of the payments will be made by credit cards or online applications. In my opinion, many populous would definitely be disappointed to avoid using cash. There are several reason behind it.

To start with, a complete ban should not be happening for cash as many old age people and most of the uneducated people rely on using currency in physical form. This changes can not happen overnight and if the government decide on complete ban of using physical form of payments, they should arrange awareness camps all over the world to make people understand how online transaction works. For the younger generation it will be a good change because they would like to do everything digitally and they are able to understand technology as well. In my opinion this can happen as there are scams going on in each country related to fake currencies.

In addition to that, many citizens would be disappointed about this change if it happens. Most of the adults still use cash to pay in their daily living expenses. Due to ongoing scams while paying online can put people in doubt about having this complete transition. Sometimes network issues at some places interfere with the online payments and people end up using cash to payback. The fear of online fraud and spending unnecessarily as scanning a QR code to pay does not make you realize how much money you actually spent throughout the day can make people think more about not using online transactions methods.

To reiterate, this complete change should not occur but people should be aware about using online transection methods in each and every region of the world. In my opinion, every individual should get knowledge about advance technology, and using them should depend on their own choice.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the likelihood of a cashless society and the reasons for public resistance. The position is clear throughout. However, the development of ideas is somewhat uneven. While you mention the elderly and uneducated as groups who might struggle, the explanation could be more nuanced. The point about 'scams' is relevant, but the connection between the fear of fraud and the reluctance to abandon cash is a bit repetitive. To reach a higher band, ensure that each supporting point is fully explored with specific examples or logical consequences rather than just stating the problem.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0

The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate distinct ideas. Cohesive devices such as 'To start with', 'In addition to that', and 'To reiterate' are used to guide the reader. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical, and there are instances where referencing is a bit vague, such as 'This changes can not happen overnight', where the plural 'changes' does not match the singular 'change' mentioned previously. Overall, the flow is clear, and the progression of ideas is easy to follow.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'technological world', 'physical currency', and 'online transaction'. There are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'many populous' (should be 'many people' or 'a large portion of the population') and 'payback' (which usually means to retaliate, rather than 'pay'). Additionally, 'transection' is a misspelling of 'transaction'. While these errors do not impede communication, they limit the precision of your writing. Expanding your vocabulary to include more sophisticated collocations would improve your score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, such as 'it is mandatory to learn new things for each age group' (slightly awkward phrasing), 'might not be be able' (repetition), and 'if the government decide' (subject-verb agreement error: should be 'decides'). Punctuation is generally acceptable, but there are minor issues with article usage and pluralization. While you attempt complex structures, the frequency of these errors prevents the writing from being consistently error-free. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and consistent verb tenses will help improve your accuracy.
