IELTS Writing Task 2 question

In the future, people may no longer be able to pay for things in shops using cash. All payments may have to be made by card or using phones. Do you think this will happen one day? Why do you think some people might not be happy to give up using cash?

Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.

 

Student answer (Band 6.0)

Digitalisation is on it's peak nowadays. Everyone is going paper less. From vendors to customers, all are using plastic money rather than using cash for their day to day transactions. This thing will increase in future but I don't think cash transactions will disapper or cash money would not be accepeted. Additionally everyone is not that comfortable with electronic payments especially old people who prefer using cash.

To start with plastic money is a very easy way to carry out any transaction. You don't need to carry hard cash in your wallet. Moreover, travelling cash less helps you to travel with less stress as you don't have to worry about your money. Phones can carry all your cards so you just need to take care of it. Furthermore, the transaction which are of big amount can be done from your finger tips with the help of mobile phone or cards rather than carrying hard cash in huge bags.For example, Last week my friend Sam went to buy a car for which he gave 20 thousand dollars as down payment. With the help of the technology he was able to do it from his phone right on the spot without any husstle of withdrawing cash from the bank.

On the other hand, some people are still happy and comfortable using Cash. The reason behind it is that they are not well educated using e-transfers or cards. Moreover, Such people don't trust this new technology with their money. However, Digital frauds are also increasing which make such people stick to the traditional method rather than going cashless.

To conclude, Card and phone payments will increase drastically in the coming time but somwhere cash transactions will also be there.
