Student answer (Band 6.0)

It is believe that in the coming time people would no longer use cash for buying things it will replace by digital mode using smartphones or cards. The reasons why would this take place is modern technology and ease of using it just tap on card reader, I believe; however, for the old age people this could be a detrimental thing.

One of main reason why this shift of online payments would take place is that it is acceptable worldwide. Card readers can deduct money from any bank around the world and can convert digitally in their own currencies. For instance, if people are travelling multiple countries then they won't have cash of all the countries, they would have stand in line or have to go to currency exchange office. It is all just waste of time and energy. In addition, young adults do not carry wallets. All carry smartphones nowadays, payments apps are installed in it and it can track the amount of money they spend. Also, lots of offers and rewards and points are given so that people can spent it later on buying other things.

On the contrary, it will be hard for the adults who are not used to technology to used digital payment method instead of cash. People like this, used cash only and even some of them won't have account in bank. Cash is only the option for them to make any purchase. Moreover, people are affraid of getting sacmmed and lossing their hard earned savings. This is to state that many of digital payments recieve code before deducting and lots of scammer call the person and asked for code, if accidently the person gave the code then he/she will lose money.

In conclusion, it will be fruitful to have smart and smooth payments in the future, but I believe everyone should be aware of the threats and let acknowlegde the people who are not that much aware of this payments methods.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

Your response addresses both parts of the prompt: you discuss whether a cashless future will happen and explore reasons why some people might be unhappy about giving up cash, such as older adults struggling with technology and fears of being scammed. Your position is clear throughout the essay. However, some ideas are more fully developed than others. For instance, the discussion on global acceptance and travel is extended quite well with the example of currency exchange offices, while the reasons why older people might be reluctant or how digital apps track spending are somewhat repetitive or limited in depth. To move into the higher bands, you would need to extend and support all your main ideas more fully with richer examples and deeper analysis, ensuring that every aspect of the prompt receives equal and thorough exploration.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

Your essay presents a clear overall progression and logical arrangement of ideas. You divide your response into appropriate paragraphs, separating the introduction, the advantages of digital payments, the counter-arguments regarding older people, and the conclusion. You use cohesive devices such as 'On the contrary', 'In addition', and 'In conclusion' to signal shifts in your argument. However, your cohesion can sometimes feel mechanical or slightly faulty, such as in the opening sentence of the second paragraph where 'One of main reason why' introduces awkward phrasing, and referencing is occasionally unclear, as seen in sentences lacking smooth transitions between thoughts. To achieve a higher band, you need to use cohesive devices more flexibly and ensure that referencing and paragraph transitions feel entirely natural and unobtrusive.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully attempting less common items and phrases such as 'detrimental thing', 'worldwide', and 'hard earned savings'. However, there are noticeable errors in word choice, spelling, and word form that occasionally impede smooth communication, such as writing 'affraid' instead of 'afraid', 'sacmmed' instead of 'scammed', 'lossing' instead of 'losing', and 'recieve' instead of 'receive'. Additionally, some collocations are awkward, such as 'let acknowlegde the people'. To reach a higher band, you must expand your vocabulary range and improve your spelling and precision in word choice so that less common lexical items are used accurately and naturally without distracting spelling errors.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence forms in your response, attempting structures like conditional clauses and relative clauses. However, there are frequent errors in grammar and punctuation throughout the text that cause difficulty and require the reader to re-read certain sentences. Examples of grammatical issues include subject-verb agreement and structural problems such as 'It is believe that', 'it will replace by', 'they would have stand', and 'adults who are not used to technology to used digital payment method'. Punctuation errors, such as comma splices ('All carry smartphones nowadays, payments apps are installed in it'), also persist. To improve, you need to increase your control over complex structures and reduce the frequency of basic grammatical errors by ensuring accurate tense usage, subject-verb agreement, and verb forms.
