Student answer (Band 6.0)

It is often argued that, digital money or plastic money will be the only methods for payment towards buying anything in future. Cash will no longer be an alternative to shop. I believe this is very much possible as has variours benifits to government and enviornment. Also, I agree that there will be audience who will be unhapppy giving up on paper money because it might be difficult for them to accept new technologies, or they are too familiar with traditional way of using cash.

I believe that, cash will be disappeared one day. This is maily because of ease of using digital money with safety, this allows people to access money as per their convenience and reduce dependence over banks. By using online banking, people feel stress free from their money getting stolen. For instance, on railyway station E-counters are now installed where people can pay online tickits, reducing the risk of wallet getting stolen. This proves reason for my position.

Moving to the second question, one of the major reason will be older generations, as they are too familiar with the habit of using cash since ages, and are not very technology friendly. This restricts them from accepting new modes of payment. To illustrate the older people still pays for new products at shop by cash and are not mobile friendly. resulting in difficulty for elders to use it.

To conclude, I belive new technologies will be convenient for use, but might not be covenient to use by older people. Therefore we should think more ways of how elders can be taught of using them.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

The response addresses all parts of the prompt, successfully discussing whether cash will disappear and why some people might be unhappy about it. The position is clear throughout the essay. However, some ideas are more fully developed than others. For instance, the argument about older generations struggling with technology is introduced, but the supporting examples remain somewhat limited and repetitive, such as stating that 'older people still pays for new products at shop by cash'. To reach a higher level, the writer would need to extend and support all main ideas with deeper reasoning and more robust, fully articulated examples.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The essay presents a coherent overall arrangement with a clear logical structure that moves from the introduction to the likelihood of a cashless future, the reasons against it, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate distinct points. Cohesion is present, but it can sometimes feel slightly mechanical or repetitive in its transitions, such as 'Moving to the second question' and 'To conclude'. Referencing is generally clear, though occasional lapses in logical flow mean that progression is not entirely seamless throughout. To fully achieve the next level, the writer needs to demonstrate more flexible and sophisticated use of cohesive devices and ensure smoother transitions between sentences and paragraphs.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, providing sufficient terms to communicate the main ideas such as 'digital money', 'plastic money', and 'traditional way'. However, there are numerous issues with spelling, word choice, and word form, including 'variours' instead of various, 'benifits' instead of benefits, 'enviornment' instead of environment, 'unhapppy' instead of unhappy, and 'tickits' instead of tickets. These lexical errors and awkward collocations, such as 'reduce dependence over banks', indicate an adequate rather than fully flexible lexical range. The vocabulary is minimally sufficient to convey meaning, but repeated errors prevent it from reaching a higher standard.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

The writer demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, attempting structures like 'It is often argued that...'. However, there are several errors in grammar and punctuation, such as missing articles, incorrect prepositions, and faulty subject-verb agreement or tense consistency, as seen in 'cash will be disappeared' and 'older people still pays'. Punctuation and phrasing also show occasional lapses, for instance in the comma placement and run-on phrasing in 'resulting in difficulty for elders to use it'. While these errors rarely impede overall communication, their frequency prevents the sentence structures from achieving the consistent control required at higher bands.
