Student answer (Band 6.0)

Nowadays, technological advancement change many aspects for our daily habits. In upcoming years, there might be a chance that individuals are not able to pay by cash when they purchase something from shops. Instead every payment may be done by using a card or mobile phones. In this essay I will give my opinion about this statement and provide information about why certain number of people still wants to use cash.

In my perspective, in near future this situation might be arise. The main reason is the conveniency. In simple words, it is very easy for people to pay bills without any hassle for counting a cash. By using a card and phones it is quite convenient for a person to buy anything at anytime and anywhere. For Example, if people leave home in an emergency situation and forgot to take cash, they still able to purchase anything if they have easy access for payments like a phone and cards. Secondly, it provides a easy way to keep records of daily expense. In other words, when we pay something online, it directly reflects in our mobile phone and in a card history, which give in detail information about purchase.

On the other side, some people are not happy if this situation might be happen. Firstly, some people are very unsecure about to use direct card or mobile applications because of fraud. For instance, A number of cases for cyber crime are increasing day by day, because of this people are might be afraid to use this method for payment. Secondly, individuals are not able to trust digital method for payment as they are used to use cash for payment.

In conclusion, because of the conveniency and providing a history of each payment are main two reasons for my agreement with this statement. Whereas insecurity and trust issues are the main points where some people might be unhappy if this situation will happen.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

You address both parts of the prompt and make your position clear: you think cashless payments may become common, and you explain why some people would resist them. Convenience and transaction records are relevant reasons, while fraud and distrust directly answer the second question. The emergency example helps illustrate convenience, and the conclusion restates your main points. However, some ideas are less fully developed than others. For example, the point about keeping records is explained, but its practical benefit is not made explicit; similarly, distrust of digital payments is mentioned without explaining what people fear beyond fraud. To strengthen the response, extend each reason with a specific consequence or example and clarify whether cash will disappear entirely or simply become less common.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two sides of the question, and a conclusion. The progression from reasons for cashless payments to reasons for resistance is easy to follow, and signposts such as “Firstly,” “Secondly,” and “In conclusion” help the reader navigate the argument. Some linking is mechanical, however, and the repeated use of “In other words” and “For instance” makes the connections feel formulaic. The opening also promises to discuss “certain number of people,” while the body shifts to “some people,” creating a slightly awkward reference. For a stronger progression, use a wider range of natural transitions and make the relationship between each claim and its explanation more explicit.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

You use an adequate range of vocabulary for the topic, including “convenient,” “records,” “fraud,” “cyber crime,” and “trust issues.” These terms make the main ideas clear, and the reader can understand your argument throughout. There are also attempts at more specific phrasing, such as “history of daily expense,” though some combinations are inaccurate or unnatural: “the conveniency,” “unsecure about to use,” and “a card history.” Repetition of “payment” and “people” also limits flexibility. Aim to learn common collocations for financial technology and use them accurately—for example, “cashless transactions,” “digital payment methods,” and “transaction history.” More precise word choice would make the argument sound more fluent and natural.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentences, including conditional and explanatory structures, and your meaning is generally clear. Some sentences are well controlled, such as “The main reason is the conveniency” in its basic structure, and the example beginning “For instance” develops a longer idea. However, some errors in verb forms, agreement, articles, and sentence construction remain. For example, “technological advancement change” needs subject–verb agreement, while “this situation might be arise” has an incorrect verb form. In “people are not able to trust,” the structure is understandable, but several surrounding clauses contain agreement errors, such as “which give in detail information.” Review verb patterns after modal verbs and ensure subjects agree with their verbs. Greater accuracy in these areas would make your varied sentences more effective.
