Student answer (Band 6.5)

In the upcoming time, indivisuals would be using card or phones to pay for things in shops rather than using cash.I strongly believe this would be the trend of coming times. It is really benificial for the development of the society. However, some people may still prefer cash for several reasons.

On the one hand,a completely cashless society may become a reality because of technological advancements and convenience of digital transactions. Paying with card or phone reduces the need to carry cash everywhere. Moreover, digital transactions allow indivisuals to keep a track of spending through banking applications. For examples, in many countries now customers can pay for groceries, bills or even for a coffee by using digital transactions.therefore, in future the business would encourage use of contactless transactions for everything.

On the other hand, people may be reluctant to give up cash for several reasons. Firstly, the elderly who are unaware of modern technologies may find it hard to use the digital banking. They find cash convenient for daily use. Secondly, for using digital banking indivisuals need functioning devices such as internet, electricity. Furthermore, people are also concerned about online frauds and privacy of their personal information. Cash can help indivisuals to track their spending. For instance, if one withdraws a fixed amount to do the groceries and this can help them to stay in budget.

In conclusion, society is accepting digital banking very popularly but a cashless society is unlikely to suit everyone. For reasons such as privacy, financial control are the main reasons that cash should be available as alternative payment method.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0

You address both parts of the question and maintain a clear position: digital payments are likely to become more common, but cash should remain available. The reasons are relevant and supported with examples, including paying for everyday items by phone and older people finding digital banking difficult. You also explain concerns about access to devices, privacy and budgeting. This range of relevant support and a consistent response make the discussion effective. To strengthen it further, develop the prediction more precisely: for example, explain what might make cashless payments widespread while acknowledging why cash may persist in some settings. The point that cash helps people track spending could also be clarified, since the fixed-withdrawal example explains budgeting more directly than tracking.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.0

The response has a clear overall progression: an introduction states your view, two body paragraphs present the likelihood of cashless payments and reasons for resistance, and the conclusion restates the main position. Paragraphing is appropriate, and signposts such as “On the one hand,” “Moreover,” and “In conclusion” help readers follow the argument. The ideas within each paragraph are generally ordered logically. At times, however, the linking feels formulaic, and some connections could be made more precise. For instance, “Cash can help individuals to track their spending” follows concerns about fraud and privacy without a clear transition to budgeting. Use referencing or a short explanatory link to show how the fixed-withdrawal example supports that point, and vary the transitions rather than relying mainly on standard signposts.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

You use an adequate range of vocabulary for the topic, including “technological advancements,” “digital transactions,” “contactless transactions,” “privacy,” and “financial control.” These choices communicate the main ideas, and the reader can understand the discussion throughout. However, some word choices and collocations are inaccurate or awkward, which limits precision: “beneficial for the development of the society” is broad, “society is accepting digital banking very popularly” is unnatural, and “online frauds” would usually be expressed differently. There are also spelling errors, including “indivisuals” and “benificial.” Proofread carefully and learn common word partnerships in context. More precise phrasing would make the argument sound more natural and help distinguish convenience, access and security concerns.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, including a reason clause in “because of technological advancements” and a relative clause in “the elderly who are unaware of modern technologies.” Most sentences communicate their meaning, and the overall argument remains easy to follow. Some grammatical and punctuation errors persist. For example, “the business would encourage use of contactless transactions” has an unclear subject and article use, while “For instance, if one withdraws a fixed amount to do the groceries and this can help them” is an incomplete or poorly joined conditional construction. There are also missing spaces after full stops and commas. Practise checking sentence boundaries, articles and agreement, and revise longer sentences to ensure each clause is grammatically complete.
