Student answer (Band 6.5)

Someday, Individuals might not continue to use cash to purchase things from the market, rather they will be making use of card or mobile phones. Although I believe that this will be possible because of an increase in technology use and its convenience, some people will resist this change due to fear and limited knowledge.

One of the reasons I believe that online transactions will overshadow cash payment is because of an increase in technology use. The use of banking applications and websites are increasing as the day goes by and this new development is being highly welcomed by the public. People now go around paying for things using mobile transfers. In addition to that, it is a convenient way of shopping. Individuals do not have to worry about carrying cash anywhere they go when there is an option of cashless transactions. For example, people can easily pay for things in the supermarket either by card or mobile transfer without the stress of withdrawing momey from the Atm machine.

Nevertheless, some people may not be happy with this development mainly because lack of technological knowledge. Some individuals especially the older ones may find it hard to use mobile banking applications for transfer. Thereby, making them to still prefer cash payment to cashless transactions. Moreover, some individuals may be scared to use online transactions because of internet fraud. To give an example, an individual have been a victim of internet fraud will prefer to purchase things from shop using cash payment and reject the idea of card or mobile transactions because of fear.

In conclusion, the use of online transactions and card payment will increased in the future due to its convenience and an increase in techonolgy usage. But not everybody will welcome this development as some will be scared of being scammed and also due to lack of digital knowledge.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

Your position is clear: you think cashless payments will become more common because technology is expanding and digital payments are convenient, while some people will resist because of limited knowledge and fear of fraud. You address both parts of the question and support them with relevant examples, such as paying at a supermarket and an internet-fraud victim preferring cash. This meets the task well, but the reasons are not equally developed: convenience and technology use are explained, while the consequences of fraud and the difficulties older people face are only briefly outlined. To strengthen the response further, explain more specifically why these concerns matter—for example, the risk of losing access to money or the need for help using payment apps.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.0

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction states your view, two body paragraphs present the prediction and the reasons for resistance, and the conclusion restates the main points. The progression is easy to follow, and signposts such as “In addition to that,” “Nevertheless,” and “In conclusion” help guide the reader. Some linking is a little mechanical, however, and the relationship between ideas could be made more precise. For instance, “Thereby, making them to still prefer cash payment” is not smoothly connected to the preceding sentence. Integrate this consequence into the sentence and use a wider range of references and transitions so that connections feel natural rather than announced.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

You use an adequate range of topic vocabulary, including “online transactions,” “cashless transactions,” “mobile banking applications,” and “internet fraud.” These terms make your meaning clear, and you attempt some less common phrasing such as “overshadow cash payment.” However, several choices are awkward or imprecise: “technology use” is repeated, “purchase things from the market” is less natural than a more specific shopping expression, and “cash payment” is used where “cash payments” or “paying in cash” would fit better. There are also spelling slips, including “momey” and “techonolgy.” Aim for more natural collocations and check spelling carefully; this will make the vocabulary more precise without requiring unnecessarily complex words.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0

You use a mix of simple and complex forms, including a concession in the opening (“Although I believe…”) and a conditional clause (“when there is an option…”). Most sentences remain understandable, but some grammatical errors recur. For example, “The use of banking applications and websites are increasing” has a subject–verb agreement problem, while “will increased” should use the base verb after “will.” The phrase “an individual have been a victim” also has incorrect agreement and tense, and “making them to still prefer” is an incomplete, awkwardly formed clause. Work on agreement, verb forms after modal verbs, and integrating dependent clauses into complete sentences. Greater accuracy across these structures would improve control while preserving your range.
