Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

You have addressed all three bullet points of the task. You explained why Chris would enjoy the party, provided a reason for your absence, and mentioned a plan to see him later. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat limited and occasionally unclear. For instance, the explanation regarding the interview and the travel requirements is a bit confusing. Additionally, the tone is inconsistent; you address the parents as 'Dear Parents' despite the prompt providing a specific name, and the closing is slightly informal. To improve, ensure your ideas are fully explained and that the tone remains consistently polite and appropriate for a letter to an adult friend's parents.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The letter is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. You use some basic cohesive devices like 'Firstly', 'In addition', and 'Finally' to link your ideas. However, the flow between sentences is sometimes disjointed, and the logical progression is hindered by grammatical errors. For example, the transition in the final paragraph regarding the 'two different time zone' is confusing and does not clearly connect to the previous ideas. Improving the use of linking words and ensuring that each sentence logically follows the previous one will help improve the overall coherence of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

Your vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, but it is quite limited and contains several inaccuracies. Phrases like 'through for Chris' (instead of 'throw'), 'found of' (instead of 'fond of'), and 'on the cloud' (instead of 'on cloud nine') indicate a lack of precision and familiarity with common English collocations. While your meaning is generally understandable, these errors prevent the language from being natural or sophisticated. To reach a higher band, focus on learning common idiomatic expressions and ensuring you use the correct word forms in context.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the letter that occasionally impede clarity. Issues include subject-verb agreement ('he will found'), incorrect verb tenses ('I am to get invitation'), and awkward sentence structures ('you are hear that is also give him goosebumps'). While you attempt some complex sentences, they are often faulty. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence structures, subject-verb agreement, and correct verb tense usage. Proofreading your work for these common errors before submitting would significantly improve the accuracy of your writing.
