Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

You have addressed all three bullet points in the prompt: explaining why Chris will enjoy the party, why you cannot attend, and proposing an alternative meeting time. The tone is appropriate for a letter to a friend's parents. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited by grammatical errors and awkward phrasing. For example, the explanation regarding the project is slightly repetitive and lacks clarity in its structure. To improve, ensure that each point is fully developed with clear, natural sentences that flow logically from one to the next.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The letter is organized into logical paragraphs, which helps the reader follow your message. You use some basic cohesive devices like 'Consequently' and 'Next weekend', which are helpful. However, the transition between ideas is sometimes mechanical, and the referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the sentence 'Due to this I can appologise'. The overall progression of ideas is clear, but the flow is occasionally interrupted by grammatical inaccuracies, which makes the text feel slightly disjointed in places.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You have a sufficient range of vocabulary to communicate your message, such as 'health and spirit', 'unexpected surprise', and 'quality time'. However, there are several spelling errors ('blieve', 'chirs', 'surprisss', 'appologise') and some word choice issues, such as 'project work due on same day' instead of 'the same day'. While these errors do not prevent the reader from understanding your meaning, they indicate a need for more careful proofreading and a wider range of precise vocabulary to reach a higher band.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentences, but there are frequent errors in grammar and punctuation that occasionally impede the flow. Examples include 'I glad to know', 'I can not the party', 'I would definitely come if do nat have to submit', and 'let the chris knew'. These errors, particularly with verb forms and articles, are noticeable throughout the letter. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of modal verbs, as these are essential for clear communication.
