IELTS Writing Task 1 question

The parents of your Australian friend Chris have invited you to a surprise birthday party for him/her. Write a letter to Chris's parents. In your letter:

• say why you think Chris will enjoy the surprise party
• explain why you won't be able to attend the party
• give details of a plan to see Chris at a different time

You do NOT need to write any addresses.

Begin your letter as follows:

Dear Mr and Mrs Collins,

I hope you are doing well. I am writing to apologize that I will not be able to attend surprise birthday party on 5th august of my beloved friend Cris due to my mother's illness and I will definitely let you know about my visit to him in upcoming month.

I was very excited when I heard that you are arranging such a fabulous party for Chris. Fortunately, he is turning 18 and graduating at the same time which will increase his happiness even on top. Additionally, Nick Jones his favorite singer will be coming to enhance the joyfulness and excitement, which he will love and enjoy the most.

However, I will be not able to be the part of celebration as my mother is in hospital, fighting with severe allergy. She requires my attention all the time as I know the medication timing and injections. I am taking care of her in hospital as suggested by doctor. Physician assured me that she will be recovered in 2 weeks.

Moreover, I have excited news for you that next month I have interview in a company which is situated in your city and I will be visiting there on 16th September. At that time, I will be able to see you and Cris , and we will have some precious time together. I am just waiting for my mother recovery and taking care of her at this moment.

I hope you will understand my situation. I promise you that I will definitely see u all soon.
