Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

You have successfully addressed all three bullet points in the prompt. You explained why Chris would enjoy the party, provided a clear reason for your absence, and proposed a specific plan to meet him later. The tone is generally appropriate for a letter to a friend's parents, although the development of ideas is somewhat simplistic. To reach a higher band, you could expand slightly on the 'why'—for instance, describing Chris's personality in more detail to show why he would appreciate a surprise. Overall, the task requirements are fully met.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The letter is logically organized into clear paragraphs, each focusing on a specific requirement of the task. You use some basic cohesive devices like 'Also' and 'As', which help the flow of information. However, the transitions between sentences can feel a bit mechanical or repetitive. To improve, try to vary your linking words and ensure that the connection between your cousin's wedding and your inability to attend is more smoothly integrated. The overall progression of ideas is clear and easy to follow.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for this task, such as 'amazed', 'celebrate', and 'invitation'. However, there are several spelling errors ('suprise', 'bithday', 'suprize') and some awkward word choices, such as 'I am not be able this party' and 'he delight to receives'. These errors do not impede communication, but they do limit the precision of your writing. Focusing on accurate spelling and common collocations will help you achieve a higher score in this category.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text. Examples include 'He is my close since 2 years' (should be 'He has been a close friend for two years') and 'my cousin wedding was there' (should be 'my cousin's wedding is taking place'). There are also issues with verb tenses and subject-verb agreement. While your meaning is generally clear, these persistent errors indicate a need for more careful proofreading and a better grasp of basic English grammar rules.
